Thomas Joseph Dahir III, a 46-year-old Maple City man, has been arrested for aggravated child sexually abusive activity, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.
According to the Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Dahir was arrested following an investigation that began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A search of Dahir’s residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.
Dahir was charged with one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Dahir was arraigned in 86th District Court Monday. The ICAC Task Force was assisted by the MSP Traverse City Post.
The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about safe use of the internet. Online resources are available here. If you have information regarding possible child sexual exploitation, you can report it to the CyberTipline here.
