Suspicious Person Investigation Leads to Drug Arrest

On August 1 at shortly before 1 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post responded to a gas station on West Bayshore Drive for a report of a suspicious person.
During the preliminary investigation, troopers contacted a man and a woman inside a vehicle parked in the lot. While speaking with them, troopers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 9 grams of suspected cocaine and 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine/fentanyl compound, individually packaged.
A 44-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were arrested and lodged at the Leelanau County Jail pending drug-related charges.
This case remains under investigation and awaits arraignment
