The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the April 13 to April 18 call reports. 

5:16pm 4/13/2026 Missing Person Elmwood Twp., Caller reporting roommate missing for 6 days. Ventured off on ebike Wednesday and hasn’t come back.

11:51pm 4/13/2026 Fire Smoke Suttons Bay Twp., Home was struck by lighting, can smell smoke, unknown if it may be smoldering. Half the house is out of power.

7:17am 4/14/2026 Road Hazard Centerville Twp., Road is washed out. Checked the area, right in front of this address there is a wash-out along the shoulder that is beginning to threaten the road surface. Road commission said there are other issues they are working on, then they will turn their priorities to that.

11:17am 4/14/2026 Citizen Assist Maple City, Cable employees obstructing traffic and stalking his property. Caller feels unsafe. They have installed 2 items after misjudging the county road right of way. He fears they will enter his property after they were trespassed. 

3:33pm 4/14/2026 Suspicious Incident Leland Twp., Someone in a white pickup was trying to alter water flow through the M22 culvert with sandbags. 

5:54pm 4/15/2026 Disorderly Leland, Gentleman was aggressive. Grey, long sleeve shirt walking a dog yelling aggressively wanting to know where caller lives. Got into a green Range Rover. 

9:35pm 4/16/2026 Traffic Violation S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller reports 3 cars seem to be tailing her, a truck and two others. All cars have passed caller, she did not have further description of them but wanted it noted. 

1:30pm 4/17/2026 Info Maple City, Biker going down the middle of the road. 

3:31pm 4/17/2026 Neighbor S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller was going to plant shrubs on property line, setting them up, and neighbor two doors down said he was too close to the road. Came to the conclusion that he should move the shrubs. Then, another neighbor came out and interrupted conversation in a hostile manner, blowing leaves at him. Asked if he was going to block his view of the water.  

9:24pm 4/18/2026 Fireworks Suttons Bay Twp., 45-08 called out with a fireworks issue. Individuals not familiar with statutes.
