The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the November 28 to December 4 call reports.

7:57am 11/28/2023 Motor Vehicle Crash Lake Leelanau, Hit and run now in ditch, power lines down. Consumer’s guy wire per Consumers, wrecker enroute and will be there in 10-15 minutes. 

9:16am 11/28/2023 Animal Control Solon Twp., Dog on caller’s yard.

3:44pm 11/28/2023 Identity Theft Cedar, Caller believes that her ex may have used her social security number for something online. 

8:54pm 11/28/2023 Disorderly Turtle Creek, GTB called direct about an unwanted female at Turtle Creek. 

3:03am 11/29/2023 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller advised they are stuck because it’s too icy to get up the road. Road commission was notified; semi is no longer stuck.

9:18am 11/29/2023 Road Hazard Leelanau Twp., Road commission called, several trucks are in the road on Omena Point, plow cannot get through. Road is clear. 

3:27pm 11/29/2023 Animal Control Lost Leelanau Twp., Shar pei wearing a turquoise harness with blinking light missing since Monday evening. 

8:16am 11/30/2023 Trespassing Maple City, Upset customer came in yesterday angry about cost of deer processing. Spoke to individual via TX, he has been formally trespassed. 

12:44pm 11/30/2023 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelanau, Caller was shopping with his 2 year old son and was alerted by the staff that an older male was taking photos of caller’s son. When caller confronted the man he got in his vehicle and left; Chevy Astro van, maroon.

4:53pm 11/30/2023 Welfare Check Empire Twp., School teacher was told by student that he was going to be home alone for a week while mom was on a trip, student didn’t show up at school today and they didn’t get a phone call from mom, caller would like someone to go to the house and check on him, she also filed a CPS report. Call back school to try and get TX of mother. Left message, he is staying with his grandparents.

7:16pm 11/30/2023 Citizen Assist E Cherry Bend Rd., Large red leather briefcase bag was possibly left in the parking lot. Has paperwork in it and caller lives an hour and a half away. I have the bag. Let her know it will be at the SO. Caller notified, she will pick up the bag. 

4:30am 12/1/2023 911 Hangup Leland Twp., Text to 911 came through on rapid SOS to above location. No answer on texty and went straight to voicemail on TX attempt. Made contact with caller, will be checking inside the house. I’ve checked the house, no one is inside and no fresh tracks outside.

5:02pm 12/1/2023 Info Leelanau Twp., PPO against subject preventing her from going to house, may be on the way there. Changing the locks. Might show up and cause trouble. Caller advised to call if there is a problem.

9:21pm 12/2/2023 Misc Juvenile N West-Bay Shore Dr., Report of girls jumping in the road, playing chicken with cars, wearing winter parkas.

11:16am 12/3/2023 Misc Juvenile Maple City, Group of 7 kids throwing snowballs on caller’s windows and doors. 

1:09pm 12/4/2023 Traffic Violation S West-Bay Shore Dr., Guy in big rig with empty flatbed going too quickly. 

5:53pm 12/4/2023 MVCPP Maple City, Caller backed into a pole and it fell over and blocked the driveway, caller is not able to get out of the vehicle because the pole is blocking the door. 

9:18pm 12/4/2023 Larceny Kasson Twp., Reporting that her roommate moved out and took items, he is refusing to give them back.
