The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the February 13 to February 18 call reports.

7:23am 2/13/2024 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Caller advised that his phone got hacked and he is receiving 700 text messages an hour of explicit material. Caller was given advice on how to get help to remove unwanted items per LT. 

7:52am 2/13/2024 Fire Grass Elmwood Twp., Caller can’t tell but something is on fire and there are large flames. Passed through the area, no signs of any flames, slow Cedar down only sees a night light on the tower. Cancel Cedar, UTL. 

7:54am 2/13/2024 Parking Suttons Bay Twp., Dark SUV sitting there a couple days no one around the end is sticking out into the road caller didn’t get a plate. Dodge SUV on road edge with flat passenger rear tire. Vehicle will be towed today he was advised if it wasn’t it would be towed in the future. 

12:58pm 2/13/2024 Fire Gas Leak Leelanau Cty., Caller accidentally left the natural gas turned on since 11:30 am and just returned and can smell rotten eggs, has since turned it off but is concerned about the levels. House ventilated. 

11:11am 2/14/2024 Larceny Duck Lake, Has a storage unit here, last time there forgot to lock it, received a call from the owner that his unit’s door was open. Some items missing. 

5:32pm 2/14/2024 Info Lake Leelanau, Caller had 5 children with her, red vehicle watching her children driving slowly, pulled into the playground and left when she called back her children. 

12:48am 2/15/2024 Disorderly Lake Leelanau, Caller advised that female and male are at their residence banging on the door and are HBD. Subjects not coming to the door. Female has been formerly trespassed from the property. 

10:37am 2/15/2024 Welfare Check N West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is with Leelanau ShareCare, one of the subscribers “hasn’t been herself” and daughter is concerned. Patient is fine, alert, oriented and upset that she was being checked on again. 

5:11am 2/16/2024 Suspicious Incident N West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller saw what appeared to be flashing lights in the smaller barn by the road when he was pulling into his driveway. Barn is secure, there was a light on inside which is most likely what he saw. Will have an informational report, the light seems to be an ongoing issue with the previous owners, the caller has already contacted his attorney and they just need a report this time. 

4:46pm 2/16/2024 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller took a bus home from the surgery center after being there for hours, her boyfriend didn’t return to pick her up and he’s not answering his phone, caller is now very concerned. She got ahold of him and he is on her way home. 

5:01pm 2/17/2024 Info Leelanau Cty., Caller reports there is “A lot of adderall and cocaine going around right now.” 

12:33pm 2/18/2024 Animal Control Lost Leelanau Cty., Golden retriever and her puppy missing since Thursday just south of country line wearing a blue collar and puppy wearing a black collar.
