Update: New Life For Sugarfoot Saloon

By Emily Tyra | March 5, 2021

Sugarfoot Saloon could soon be under new ownership. The long-loved Leelanau County gathering spot at 4997 Good Harbor Trail in Cedar is under contract with potential buyers, according to real estate agent Lisa Rossi-Brett of RE/MAX Bayshore Properties, with their identities remaining private until the deal is finalized.

The sale of the iconic Mexican-American eatery and saloon, which started in 1967, included all furniture, fixtures and equipment, Sugarfoot’s Class C liquor license for on-site consumption and take-out, catering license, and brew pub license. Rossi-Brett newly listed the property — owned and operated for decades by Peter and Karen Bardenhagen — in February: $575,000 for the restaurant on 1.34 acres and $690,000 for the restaurant on 1.34 acres with an adjoining 10 acre parcel.

She tells the Leelanau Ticker that the potential new owners would continue to operate the property as a food and beverage establishment, with more details to come soon.
